Materials of case affect not only to the impression of the watch but also the price. Main materials for watch cases are five types as follows and most of watch cases are made by those materials. Customizing the case by decorating jewelry on the case, Brands create unique design and variety of watches.

On the other hands, titanium and aluminum are used for Sports type watch, which needs to be tough in sports scene and unusual materials such as ceramic and plastic are used for some other models.

Case shape is an element to determine the personality of the watch. It’s likely to appear the characteristic of each brand on the case shape. There are so many types of shape and let’s see some of standards.

There are so many different movements that are created by watch manufactures utilizing proprietary innovations, but each of these movements will fall into one of two categories—quartz or mechanical.

An easy way to differentiate a quartz from a mechanical movement is by looking at the second hand. On a quartz watch, the second hand has the tick-tick motion that moves once per second while mechanical watches have a smooth, sweeping seconds motion.

Quartz Movement

Quartz movements are very accurate and require minimal maintenance aside from battery replacements, battery life is about 1 to 2 years depending on the watch. They tend to be low cost since they are battery powered and have few moving parts.

Mechanical Movement

Mechanical movements are often chosen for luxury watches because of the level of quality and craftsmanship of mechanical movements. Created by expert watchmakers, these movements contain an intricate series of tiny components working together to power the timepiece. A mechanical movement uses energy from a wound spring, rather than a battery, to power the watch.

There are two types of mechanical movements, manual and automatic, each with unique characteristics.

Regarding to the accuracy of mechanical watch, there is ±30 seconds to 3 minutes in a day for antique and manual movement while ±5 to 20 seconds in one day for automatic movement of second-hand.

Handling mechanical movement

Mechanical movement watch is made very complex and accurately and it will be affected by the use conditions and living environment such as shock (sports and intense movement), magnetic (radio waves, magnetic) and natural environment (temperature, humidity, atmospheric pressure).

Because of degradation and galling with internal components of watch and metal powder from rubbing of metal between the gears, it will shorten of the watch life and reduce the accuracy of watch. We highly recommend regular maintenance.

About Setting time and date

Usually set the time and date by rotating clockwise and please note it may cause the trouble to rotate anti-clockwise for setting the time and date.

The date changes around midnight but it starts preparing the date change from around 9PM and completes around 3AM inside of watch. If you set the date between this time, it will cause trouble. Please confirm it's not midnight and avoid from 9PM to 3AM when setting the date.

About waterproof

We don't offer the guarantee for waterproof except new watches. 2-3 water‐resistant – Only sweat and water drop, it may cause trouble when pouring water directly on the watch

5 water‐resistant (5BAR) – It is not a problem to pour water directly but it may cause trouble when tap or shower water directly poured on the watch.

10-20 water‐resistant (10-20BAR) – Can use for water sports or skin diving but not for scuba diving

* It will be flooded if the crown or button isn’t firmly closed

About repair

Craftsmen work for repairing watch and it will take time to work and procure the parts. Please understand it may take a couple weeks or months depending on repair.
