Frequently asked questions

Are the products authentic?

Yes, they are all authentic. The products are sourced through official account holders of the brand and; therefore, will be considered as parallel imported goods not once have we had counterfeit goods imported and sold throughout our years of service.

Are the products new?

Yes, they are all new. If any products are slightly damaged when we import it, we sell those products by categorizing them as"Outlet Products".

Why is it so cheap?

Official retailers in Japan have a set price to sell the goods and they are obligated to sell the goods according to that fixed price. On the contrast, we have no obligation to sell at a fixed price and we are able to retail the goods to customer`s desired price.

Important:For safety reasons we ask our customers to always use you own card to make payments. We are sorry for any inconvenience, but we will not be processing any payments unless you are the official card holder.

    *All cards can pay for the product in one lump-sum payment. Policies differ depending on the Card company, so we ask customers to contact their credit card company for detailed questions about their card.

    *Please pay by same credit card when you request to combine orders into one package.
    If you use two or more credit cards for ordering, we cannot combine your orders into one.
    We can only combine orders of same credit card.
  • Consumption Tax
    Overseas cutomers do not have to pay Japanese consumption tax. We always deduct consumption tax from the total purchase amount.

What happens after ordering?

It is a 3 step process when shopping with us! Please see the flow chart below.



  • Once you purchase your item you will receive an automatic E-mail from us.
  • We take out the Japanese consumption tax of 8% from the total price and add international shipping cost + 5% handling fee. We will then send you an E-mail with the total price and wait for your confirmation.
    *Your order may be canceled if we do not receive a confirmation within 3 days.
  • Once you confirm your order, we will process your order and send it out as EMS. You will get a third E-mail from us with your tracking number and confirmation of shipment.

All orders will be processed and shipped after receiving your confirmation and payment.

I haven’t received a reply from customer service

We do the best to reply back to our customers with any orders and inquiries within 36 hours. Please know there may be exceptions for national holidays and company holidays. If you have not received a reply from us after 2 days, please check your spam mail and see if you have received an E-mail that ends with "moder-blue.com". You may need to adjust your account to receive future E-mails from us.

Ordering through phone and fax

Currently we do not receive order requests from faxes and telephones. Our official website along with our other online stores share a common inventory data, and we ask customers to place their orders from our online shops.

Will invoices be printed?

For requests on receiving an invoice, we provide customers electronic invoices by sending a codified URL with a password. You can then download a PDF file of your invoice and print it.

Is product wrapping possible?

Any services such as wrapping is generally free of charge at our store. Please note that due to the size of the product there are exceptions to this service with items such jackets, coats, other apparels, and any sizes from medium size bags. We also cannot provide any message cards.

Please let us know if you would like us to wrap your product.



How to send the product as gift?

Please provide us with the address where you would like us to send the product. If the receiver of the product is someone other than yourself, we can accommodate by not including in prices and receipts of the gift.

Can I get notices for new product and stock?

We send out new information regarding products and stock three times a week. We also send out E-mail magazine called NaiS (New Arrival Information Services) regarding new products and information for our subscribers.

Can I make a reservation to order?

Unfortunately we currently do not accept any reservations for an order.

I can’t order from my smartphone or tablet

Some versions of Android OS that is installed in the smartphones and tablets may not be compatible. This is not a problem with the newer versions of the Android OS, or use a PC when ordering.

After placing your order we will send you an automated e-mail confirming your order. Another E-mail will be sent to you indicating the total purchase price with shipping & handling and excluding Japanese tax.

Important: Please confirm your order information (shipping address, your payment method, amount, international shipping fee and so on) by replying to our E-mail. After receiving your confirmation we will ship your product immediately. If you have any inquiry or request for your order, please contact us as soon as possible before shipping. We recommend you to place an order after your inquiries have been answered.

We Express Mail Service (EMS) as a primary method of shipping your product. EMS has a reparations system for loss, theft, and damaged deliveries. For more details, please visit their website at https://www.post.japanpost.jp/int/ems/index_en.html

On every product page you will find the “Estimated shipping fee” link. Please choose your respective countries and you will be able to see a rough estimate of your shipping fee. Many of our product page will have the weight of the product therein.

Returns, exchanges and cancellation

Important: We offer our consumers living in Japan services for returns and exchange products at our expense, however our current global retailing policy does not accept returns or exchanges.
We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. If you have any additional questions please let us know.

Can I change my order?

To change details of your delivery address, remove items from your order or cancel it completely and email us. Please include your order number. If your order has already been shipped we cannot make any changes to your order. We do not accept any return/exchange once your order has been shipped.

There was damage, or wrong product sent

If your order sustained damage during delivery or received a wrong product, please contact us immediately. We ask that you contact us within 5 days upon arrival of the shipment and let us understand your situation. We will require pictures for damaged products as well as shipping slip you received from the carrier.

After our investigation we will send you a replacement immediately.

About the Product

Sizing of the product

We take the measurement of each product, which can be found on our product page.

Will it come with any commodities?

Since we do not source our products from an official Japanese retail store, we are not able to provide additional commodities which those stores provide. However we are able to provide all commodities that are prepared from the brand`s factory.

Are there warranties?

Modern Blue sources all its products from official traders, and therefore our products are referred to as parallel products. While we make a firm commitment to our customers that the product is new and authentic, because it is a parallel imported product it does not have a warranty.

However, there are consumers who purchase products outside of Japan and there are brands that accept repair services at its own expense. This depends on the brand and we do not know which brands offer those services. We ask our customers to contact the brand directly for additional inquiries regarding the matter.

~Founding Modern Blue~

The sculpture carved into the pillars and beams found in the temple of Parthenon is still considered one of the finest art in all Europe through two millennia.

After the temple was completed, the Sculptor Pheidias gave the construction bill to the finance officer according to his work. He then was said the bill was “Too expensive!” and was given a claim.


The finance officer claimed, “The temple of Parthenon stands upon the hill of the Acropolis and the sculpture on the beam is too high for any man to see. You sculpted and billed us for the back of the sculpture where no one will ever see.”

Pheidias, without changing his expression replied, “No man may see it, but the Gods will be watching.”

Modern Blue was established at the start of the millennium on January 4th, 2001.

When creating the company sign and logo, we added “LO SPIRITO DI PHEIDIAS”, meaning “The Spirit of Pheidias”, as a subheading. This was done to honor his prominent life and to show our aspiration through the pursuit of his pride.

About the Privacy Policy

This privacy policy states Modern Blue is fully committed to the protection of personal information.

Purpose of Use

Modern Blue uses all purchases, gift inquiries, product shipping information in order to ensure better aftercare and better meet the needs of our customers. These information’s are also used to formulate E-mail magazines and future procurement of products.

When a customer is purchases an item as a gift to a third party, we do require information such as name and address, contact information, E-mail addresses. But this information will only be used for transactional purposes.

Delivery to a third party

Unless given direct permission, we do not give out any personal information to a third party. There are exceptions if the law and regulation require us to provide the information.

Billing correspondence

In accordance with the private information protection law, when given the order to disclose personal information, we are obligated to charge a processing fee to the customer.

Beware of Fake websites

Fake shops using the same name

Recently, the amount of fraudulent activities such as using the Modern Blue name and logo has been increasing.

In some cases the perpetrators would copy and paste the entire company profile and mimic their fake website just like the real one. (We take immediate actions to these fraudulent activities with the police and corporate lawyers.)

Currently our E-commerce shops are: Modern Blue main store, Rakuten Ichiba and Global, Yahoo and Amazon. All other source of operation is not of Modern Blue. There is a high possibility that it is a fraudulent site.

To avoid harm from fraudulent activities

There are several known features that can be seen from these fraudulent websites. Although these features do not indicate they are fake websites, it is highly probable.

What Modern Blue is doing to ensure safety and enjoyable shopping experience

All of our products are sourced through official suppliers and we receive a copy of their official invoices as evidence that the products are authentic. In all our years of business since 2001, we have never had counterfeit goods come in and sold.
