象徴　：　熱情・仁愛・威厳
燃える炎のような真紅のルビーは、古来、宝石の女王と呼ばれています。その赤い色は情熱や深い愛情の象徴と思われていました。英国での国王の戴冠式にもルビーがセットされている等、多くの王が護身符として身に付けていました。語源は中世ラテン語で「ルビヌス」（赤い）という言葉に由来します。そして、「ピジョン・ブラッド」と呼ばれる真紅のものが最高とされています。
